Infant Car Seat
What Infant car seat did you buy for your little one?
I'm looking for something that will be comfortable and keep baby in place properly.

B Safe when Infant
Clek Fllo/Foonf after that
currently in Clek Oobr
i am not sure of the validity of buying the 'best' infant seat. depending on child weight you may only use it for 8 month or so despite the seat being able to be used for 30+ lbs

We have the uppababy mesa. Its easy to install and well-built but it is heavy. Currently our daughter has now transition to the peg preggo primo viaggio which we got 15% off during the baby show.
Also make sure your car seat is purchased in Canada. I know some purchased their carseats in US to save money but canada has different regulations than the US.

Graco Snugride 35. Low priced, works perfectly fine.
The more high end ones may be a little lighter if that matters to you, and some have different sunshades that are larger / more movable.

There are lots of options for infant seats. Before purchasing, make sure whatever you choose installs well in your vehicle. Not every car seat is compatible with every vehicle.
Here's a list of recommended seats from a group of Canadian car seat techs: https://vicarseattechs.com/our-favourit ... ant-seats/

baby is not here until may, but we got the peg perego primo viaggio 4-35. it goes into our peg perego book scout stroller without the needs of an adapter.
we bought both on clearance from Babies R Us, paid ~$280 for the stroller & ~$183 for the car seat

Peg Perrego
I got it together with the stroller. The car seat and stroller are built really well (really tough) but the stroller is pretty heavy. I found that the car seat was a huge pain to snap into the stroller. The car seat has 2 pegs and they connect into the stroller. I found that it's really tough to get the 2 pegs lined up with the connectors in the stroller. Sometimes I would spend 3 mins fiddling with it just to get the car seat to snap into the stroller. I wanted to kick the stroller but then my son would fall over.

Britax B-safe with the stroller combo. Worked great for our LO. And the transition from car to stroller is easy.

We inherited a Peg Perego Viaggio for our first kid. With the second, I started looking again and there are just too many options. I said screw it, I'm just gonna get the exact same one for the second kid since I was okay with it.

I used Britax for both of my kids. Similar to previous poster, it was all I ever knew and I was too lazy to research more...and they are very well rated.
But they are very heavy! I never realized the difference until I carried a peg Perego.... So much lighter.
If I had to do it again (which I'm not) I'd definitely consider weight in the equation.

My son is almost 9ms and growing out of the Uppababy Mesa. Any recommendations for infant car seats age 1yr+ for a small/mid size car? I own a 2018 Elantra.

Best practice is to continue to rear-face your child in the next car seat. Here is a list of favourite "convertible" car seats from a group of Canadian car seat techs. A convertible car seat can rear face and then later forward face when your child is older. The pros and cons on that list should mention which ones are compact for front-to-back space.

I highly suggest you go to the store and lift the car seats vs buy one randomly. Some are heavy as bricks and some are way lighter. The lighter ones tend to be more expensive. I would also pick a stroller out first THEN get the car seat. Not all car seats are compatible with strollers so you want one that will be compatible with your stroller.

This travel system is dirt cheap for a highly rated car seat. The stroller is a bonus/freebie to me. You can always get something like this till you figure out what stroller you want or you can just keep using this stroller too. That's if cheap is what you want. You'll need to learn the brands and their price tiers too like Nuna, Clek, Maxi-Cosi, Uppababy means $500+ just for the car seat etc.

Graco SnugRide 35 between 0 and 1 year old.
Graco 4-Ever 4-in-1 after 10months/1 year old. It's currently cheap at 299$ + taxes.
Seriously buying a baby car seat over 300$ is a waste of money for 1 kid and during COVID. My point of view.

I agree with the last point. For our first round of seats, we bought higher end britax models. Then we bought cleks. But now that the britaxes all expired I've replaced them with cheap dionos.
1) the next kid will be our last. Won't be passed down.
2) we use to drive 30-60k a year. Last year we drove <10k? Just can't get the same usage and value.
