There are few celebrities that have had as varied of a career as the legendary Joe Rogan. From his colorful beginning as a stand-up comedian to his career as an MMA color commentator to hosting one of the most successful podcasts in the world, Rogan has mastered the art of captivating audiences with his magnetic personality and witty insights. Now, he's adding another accomplishment to his resume–keto success story. Rogan recently brought assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine Dr. Dom D'Agostino onto his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, to discuss his success on the diet. 1
An initial skeptic
Rogan announced his new diet initially on his Facebook account, where he confessed an initial skepticism toward the ketogenic lifestyle, referring to it as a "wacky diet." However, after about two weeks following a low-carb eating plan, Rogan admits that he was hooked–in a post on February 20th, Rogan confirmed that after following the diet for just two weeks, he was already "very impressed" with the results that he'd seen so far, dropping 8 pounds by consuming a diet rich in healthy fats and protein-packed favorites like steak.2
Benefits beyond weight-loss
Inspired by his success on the ketogenic diet, Rogan brought Dr. D'Agostino onto The Joe Rogan Experience episode 994 to discuss his journey so far. One of the things that Dr. D'Agostino brought up that surprised both listeners and the host himself is that research suggests that the ketogenic diet may be beneficial for much more than just shedding a few pounds before the summer season. Dr. D'Agostino highlighted that the ketogenic diet has been used in combating conditions like Parkinson's and epilepsy along with addressing obesity. Outside of the podcast, dieters echoed his statements, bringing Rogan's attention to research supporting the idea that keto may be able to help prevent certain types of cancers and may be beneficial in fighting autism.
On a personal level, Dr. D'Agostino has also enjoyed success following a low-carb diet. Some of his favorite keto-approved selections? "Wild Plant Sardines in olive oil, canned oysters in olive oil, egg yolks cooked in butter, macadamia nuts, fatty cuts of meat, fatty fish, olive oil, coconut oil, and MCT oil," just to name a few!1
